Radio from the Classroom
On Monday, November 29, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the "eighth Austria-wide School Radio Day" will be on air on all free non-commercial radio stations in Austria. Students of all school levels will report in live broadcasts, interviews, and reports from all over Austria on how they are coping with everyday school life despite COVID-19.
What is the gender pay gap? What does the term femicide mean, and what needs to be done about it? And what happens in the series Squid Game? The 7th-grade students at KORG Innsbruck have addressed these questions.
What comes to mind when you think of swarm intelligence and bionics? Robot bees pollinating flowers? The second-year students at the BAfEP vocational school for educational assistants in Carinthia have found the answers.
COVID-19 has been with us throughout 2021. A production by Campus Radio in Sankt Pölten asks the question: “COVID-19 at school and in leisure time – what can we still do?”

Since 2013, the 14 independent radio stations have been organizing Austrian School Radio Day. On this day, students from all over Austria create radio programs that can be heard on all independent radio stations. This year, Vienna's Radio ORANGE 94.0 and the association aufdraht are coordinating the event. All contributions to School Radio Day 2020 are available in the independent radio stations' archive.
